Waurn Ponds Estate - Vineyard

THE VINEYARD

Waurn Ponds Estate Vineyard is situated on limestone shale (>60 metres deep) slopes of the Barabool Hills and commands views of the Southern Ocean, Corio Bay and distant Melbourne.

Open to the elements, the small 20 acre premium cool climate vineyard is managed by hand to crop under two tonnes to the acre.

Varieties planted include: Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Viognier, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon & Shiraz. The unique clonal (varietal) mix from the old world and new world grape growing regions provides a strong backbone of blending options & complexity.

The terroir of the vineyard imparts a distinctive Burgundian tight but generous character to the wines which naturally exhibit excellent acid balance fruit intensity & elegance.
